    LONG LAKE MAYOR

"Since getting to know Todd Newcomer after he moved to Long Lake from Oregon a few years ago, I have grown to respect Todd immensely. Todd‘s professional background is serving in a career in the fire service on a very large fire district that provides fire and rescue services to many cities via a shared services type arrangement, which is where the fire service is headed across the country. After getting to know Todd, I requested that he join a group of local elected officials and fire service leaders who were meeting to discuss the future of fire services in our communities and identify ways in which cities can collaborate for fire services. Todd’s participation in the group was very well received, and a neighboring fire chief would later cite encouragement from Todd as the reason why two area fire departments finally sat down and figured out a way to merge. That merger became effective on July 1, 2023, and now another area fire department is in discussions to potentially merge with that fire district.

Besides Todd’s invaluable knowledge of the fire service, he has also shown himself to be someone who is driven by integrity and doing what is right for his community. He has exemplary problem-solving skills, and I know he will use them to address the wide range of issues that come before city council members. Todd has quickly grown to be well-known and respected in our city and neighboring cities, and I know Todd will be an excellent addition to the Long Lake City Council.  Please join me in voting for Todd Newcomer for Long Lake City Council."

    LONG LAKE CITY COUNCIL

"Todd Newcomer would be a valuable addition to the Long Lake City Council. A retired firefighter and paramedic, Todd relocated to Long Lake from the West Coast several years ago and has since become an active participant in our community. He has spoken at multiple council meetings and served as a subject matter expert during community open houses on issues relating to the Long Lake Fire Department.

With his extensive experience in fire protection service models, Todd brings both expertise and a fresh perspective. His career in public service has given him a deep understanding of the challenges fire departments face, and his story is a testament to his dedication. He also recognizes the importance of collaboration and resource-sharing among fire departments, which will be essential in shaping the future of the Long Lake Fire Department.
